SCOPE OF WORK / DUTIES / ROLES
  • Work under the direction / guidance of the Solution Architect, Service Delivery Manager, Test Manager and Project Manager, the services to be provided are related to developing and updating NIRIS software modules;
  • Develop / update Java software modules;
  • Develop / conduct unit and (automated) testing of software components;
  • Develop / update software documentation;
  • Contribute to virtual and in-person meetings;
  • It is envisioned that these services are provided by ONE experienced software developer;
  • The development and testing services will be carried out on an Agency-provided laptop while using remotely the engineering and test facilities in the NATO Software Factory hosted in Microsoft Azure;
  • These facilities consists of all necessary development and test services (such as Gitlab, Jira, Zephyr, Nexus…);
  • The contractor shall update the status of the NIRIS development tasks in Jira, commit code in Gitlab, and maintain test procedures and test results in Zephyr;
  • Some of the work could also be requested to be conducted locally in NCI Agency in The Hague, The Netherlands;
  • The contractor will be part of a team (Service Delivery Manager, Project Manager, Solution.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
  • The candidate has relevant and recent experience of minimum 5 years in software development using Java and Typescript (Angular);
  • The candidate has relevant and recent experience of minimum 3 years in programming at the computer network level (TCP/IP, UDP, multicast);
  • The candidate has relevant and recent knowledge of minimum 3 years of (programming) Tactical Data Links (TDL), e.g. Link 1, Link;
  • The candidate is well able to produce efficient, clear, readable, maintainable and high quality code;
  • The candidate has experience with developing and troubleshooting near real time systems;
  • The candidate has relevant and recent experience of minimum 3 years in continuous software integration and automated testing, including knowledge of test automation frameworks;
  • The candidate has relevant and recent experience of minimum 3 years in using development tools (e.g. Maven, Jira, GitLab, Zephyr) and the Scrum methodology;
  • The candidate is able to speak and write fluent English since the work is conducted in English;
  • The candidate must have the nationality of one of the NATO nations.
