SCOPE OF WORK / DUTIES / ROLES
- Assists Core Section Head with the development of technical solutions for all maritime afloat tasking, development of troubleshooting SOPs, and technical refresh/upgrade of all system hardware;
- Assisting with the planning and coordination of ship surveys prior to scheduled CIS installation;
- Assist with the System Administration (SA) of HW and SW of assigned systems;
- Ensures all technical and service oriented documentation pertaining to assigned systems, interconnections, supporting cable plant etc. is prepared, properly stored and kept up-to-date;
- Ensures Configuration Control data is reported to Core Section Head in a timely manner;
- Involved in providing remote support of Flagship handovers for those nations involved in the Standing Naval Forces (SNF's);
- Maintains a close liaison with other technicians and engineers within the CSU and the wider NCI Agency.
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge and experience in VMware Virtualisation technology;
- Knowledge of SAN technology;
- Knowledge and experience in Windows workstation imaging techniques;
- Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Server Technologies;
- Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange;
- Knowledge and experience in Application Server technologies;
- Knowledge of ITIL IT service management model;
- Knowledge of Incident and Problem Management processes and experience in this area;
- Ability to write technical documentation and user guides;
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
- Problem Solving: Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions; probes all fruitful sources for answers; can see hidden problems; looks beyond the obvious and doesn't stop at the first answer;
